    Applications

Styrene polymerization: TBPB may be utilized for the polymerization and copolymerization of styrene within the 100-140℃ temperature range. The temperature is gradually raised during the polymerization process.
Acrylates and methacrylates polymerization: TBPB can serve as an initiator for the solution (co)polymerization of acrylates and methacrylates at temperatures ranging from 100 to 170℃, particularly for coatings. It can also be used as an initiator for the bulk and suspension (co)polymerization of acrylates and methacrylates.
Ethylene polymerization: TBPB is an effective initiator for the polymerization of ethylene under high pressure in both autoclave and tubular processes. Combinations with other peroxides are employed to achieve a wide range of polymerization temperatures. TBPB exhibits activity within the 220-270℃ temperature range, depending on the reaction conditions.
Other uses: TBPB can also be employed for the (co)polymerization of acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate.
Crosslinking peroxides: TBPB is suitable for crosslinking EPDM rubber compounds at ambient temperature over several weeks. Rubber compounds containing TBPB offer a balance between processing safety and rapid curing.
Peroxides for thermoset resins: Tert-butyl peroxybenzoate, an aromatic perester, is utilized for curing unsaturated polyester resins at elevated temperatures. TBPB is the preferred curing agent for UP resin-based Hot Press Moulding formulations (SMC, BMC, ZMC, etc.) within the 120-170℃ temperature range.
